2019 Tour

RICHLAND MALL

Waco, TX

Oct 25 & 26, 2019

Our vision here at Iconic Comic Expo is to create an exciting and safe environment for attendees of all ages. In order to maintain a family-friendly environment, we established the guidelines below for general dress and cosplay. Failure to comply can result in being asked to cover-up, change clothes or ejection from the venue.

Although we strive to be as detailed as possible, this list is not all-inclusive. Iconic Comic Expo reserves the right to determine whether or not your costume is appropriate. We strongly suggest you to contact us via email if you have any specific questions.

General Attire

  • Shirts, Bottoms and Shoes must be worn at all times in the venue and comply with state and city decency requirements.

  • Do not wear any clothing that promotes porn, strong language, or any other graphic content. This applies to language, innuendos and images.

  • Please remember this is a family friendly expo for our entire community and comply accordingly.

Cosplay Costumes – General Guidelines

  • Costumes must be street-legal and suitable for all audiences, as Iconic Comic Expo is an all-ages expo. Public decency laws for state and city apply to all cosplay and costumes.

  • Costumes for both sexes should not be too revealing, i.e. upper body, genital area and buttocks must be sufficiently covered by clothing. Genitalia and/or nipples must not be visible through the costume.

    • WOMEN: Your costume must cover, at minimum, as much as a modest bathing suit. Breasts need to be 90% covered and buttocks must be completely covered. If your costume calls for less coverage (i.e. thong, pasties or other below-minimum-coverage elements)  please wear a bodysuit beneath it.

    • MEN: our costume must cover, at minimum, as much as a typical pair of swimming trunks. If your costume calls for less coverage (i.e. Speedo-cut briefs, thong or other below-minimum-coverage elements)  please wear a pants or a bodysuit beneath it.

  • MORPHSUITS/BODYSUITS: Morph suits and other skin tight unitard-type outfits require appropriate undergarments and should not be worn with nothing underneath. Genitalia and/or nipples must not be visible through the costume.

  • BODY PAINT: Liquid latex and body paint do not a costume make! All “private parts” must be covered by actual clothing and you may use liquid latex/body paint as an enhancement. No one will be permitted to be topless (male or female) in the venue. Genitalia and/or nipples must not be visible through the costume.

    • Body makeup that easily smears or transfers to any person or property cannot be worn. Please properly seal and set all makeup so that it cannot be smeared or transferred. Staff reserves the right to “smear test” for proper setting of fake blood or makeup. If your makeup does not comply you will be asked to remove it or leave the venue.

  • FOOTWEAR: Appropriate footwear is required at all times in the venue. If your costume calls for bare feet, you may wear flip-flops or ballet-type slippers, but the soles of your feet should not come in contact with the floor. If your costume requires a morph suit or unitard-type outfit you must pad the soles of the costume.

    • Skates (Inline or roller), Togo Skates, Sneaker Skates and the like of “rolling footwear” may not be worn or used in the venue. Sneaker skates may only be worn in sneaker form.

  • Line of Sight: You must hav a clear line of sight, including peripheral vision. Being only able to see through a tiny eye slot does NOT constitute a clear line of sight. If this is unavoidable, cosplayer MUST have a handler at all times or remove headgear. Other coplayers with masks or headgear do not qualify as a handler. This rule does apply to attendees in fur suites as well; you are required to have a handler with you at all times. This is due to the large crowds and tight confines of the venue and is for the safety of all.

  • Metal is NOT permitted on the costume itself.

  • The illusion of nudity is unacceptable. No Exceptions.

  • Shock costumes, or costumes which have the sole purpose of offending and disrespecting other individuals, cultures or religions in any way, will not be tolerated. We ask that you be respectful of other attendees.

    • No gang signs

    • No racist symbols

    • Emblems of genocide are prohibited

  • Iconic Comic Expo staff reserves the right to make final judgement calls on what is “decent”. If staff feels that your costume is indecent or inappropriate in any way, you will be asked to change or cover it. Ultimately, Iconic Comic Expo reserves the right to deny any/or all costumes not deemed appropriate and/or safe.

Military/Law Enforcement Officer Dress

  • If you intend to wear a uniform that appears realistic, you must distinguish in some way that it is a costume.

  • If your costume could be mistaken for current military or law enforcement, it is prohibited.

  • Ultimately, Iconic Comic Expo reserves the right to deny any/or all costumes not deemed appropriate and/or safe.

Weapons

  • Weapons of all types and/or materials are PROHIBITED regardless of whether they are prop or real functioning weapons due to the weapons policies of the venue.

    • If security sees any attendee with a weapon of any type, they will be, at minimum, escorted from the venue or, at maximum, detained and/or arrested by local law enforcement.

  • While we understand that many cosplay costumes are not as recognizable without imitation weapons, we are complying with the rules of the venues that Iconic Comic Expo will be held in. As this is a free event for the community, we ask that all Cosplayers comply with this limiting rule.

Props & Accessories Policy

  • Props carried in public areas must be no more than 72 inches/6 feet in length. This is for the safety of all expo goers, as well as to prevent damage to personal property.

  • Metal props are prohibited. This applies to any large props (i.e. shields, signs, etc) as well as small hand props (i.e. fans, wrenches, etc).

  • Use caution when carrying or displaying large props. If you are seen wielding a large prop is a manner that is deemed by staff to be reckless or dangerous manner, your prop will be confiscated and you will be escorted to the venue doors to return it to either your vehicle or home.

  • No adult-themed props/paraphernalia are permitted.

  • Ultimately, Iconic Comic Expo reserves the right to confiscate and/or deny entrance to any/or all props and/or accessories not deemed appropriate and/or safe.

Prohibited Materials

  • Inflammable materials (i.e. candles, fireworks, sparklers, liquid fuels, etc) or other items deemed fire hazards are strictly prohibited. Small personal smoking paraphernalia (cigarettes, lighters, vaping devices, etc) may be carried, but may not be used inside the venue.

  • Your costume should not shed. Please avoid loose materials (i.e. sand, glitter, confetti, flower petals, etc) that are designed to fall, scatter or otherwise separate from your costume purposefully.

  • Drones and other flying objects.

  • Weapons of all types and/or materials are PROHIBITED regardless of whether they are prop or real functioning weapons due to the weapons policies of the venue.
